Export a single frame as an image
Save any moment as a PNG, JPG, or WebP — your choice of shape and size, up to 4K.
Save any moment of your scene as an image — for a thumbnail, a title card, a worksheet, or a slide.
Steps
- Move the playhead to the exact moment you want.
- Press ShiftS, or open Tools ▸ Save frame as image…
- Choose your options, then click Save image.
The grid, guides, and selection handles are hidden for the capture, so the image contains only your scene.
Your options
Format — PNG keeps transparency and is best for slides and print. JPG makes a smaller file but has no transparency. WebP is the smallest at the same quality, best for the web.
Shape — Scene uses your project's own frame. You can also pick 16:9 for slides and YouTube, 9:16 for phone stories, 1:1 for social posts, or 4:3 for older projectors. If the shape you pick differs from your scene, the image is cropped to fit.
Size — 1280, 1920, 2560, or 3840 pixels wide. 3840 is 4K, for print or a large screen.
Include the background — turn this off for a transparent PNG you can drop onto a coloured slide. Not available for JPG, which cannot store transparency.
Copy instead of saving
The Copy button puts the image straight on your clipboard, ready to paste into slides or a document. It uses the same format and shape you picked. If your browser refuses to copy JPG or WebP, it falls back to PNG so the copy still works.
What the image contains
Formulas appear as properly typeset maths, exactly as they look in the editor — not as plain text. 3D objects are included too, redrawn at full quality so a 4K export stays sharp.
A small Manim Studio mark sits in the bottom corner, and the file is named after your project and the moment you captured, like Manim Studio - My Scene - 3.5s.png.
